8-Bit Champs: Pac-Man

"Dinner Bell at the Bottom of the Food Pyramid"

Here is my full submission to an 8-Bit Video games themed show in PARIS, FRANCE at FLAQ Gallery. This is the first international viewing of my artwork, and I'm really excited.

I made an image themed on PAC_MAN which explains the recent rash of PAC MAN here on the blog. I also tried to change up the type of image I was making. I'm pretty happy with the outcome and see myself making more 8-bit tribute images in the future just for my own entertainment.
Sadly, it wasn't on display for opening night due to some problem with postal papers and foreign Customs... DANG...
However on a happier note, I'm told that the work will be added to the show in when it clears customs... HELL YES!.

I'd like to end by thanking Thomas and Joe in coordination with the Autumn Society for making this event happen and for letting me be involved.. MERCI, and THANK YOU!

As always I hope you dig.

My Diet of PIZZA and TABLETOP ARCADE GAMES.

Just a teaser image... I'll post the whole thing here a bit closer to the show.

I'm slated to have this image up in the 8-Bit Champions show in France here in a week (provided it makes its trip across the atlantic). My earliest experiences with Mr. and Mrs. PacMan were at the local Pizza Hut growing up. Where I'd squeeze in a few games between the slices and soda during family social outings... I remember they had a Tabletop unit, and I recall being pretty enamored with how it looked and helped create a head to head play style if you happened to be sitting across from your younger brother.
It certainly is a classic game, with many great tributes to it already in this most excellent show. I'm humbled to be in the presence of so many other great artists putting out such great 8-Bit tributes... I only hope I measure up. This image has gotten my mind working at brewing up some new image ideas for the future...

Hope you dig.

My artwork should be winging its way across the Atlantic right now, but I wanted to share this quick scribble of PAC MAN with you! I'll have a more finished image posted up closer to the show date.

Hope you dig.

Ninja Gaiden

Hi Autumn Society, my name is Campbell Whyte and this is my Ninja Gaiden for the 8-Bit Champions.

The framing was done by a fantastic local guy who I went to for my last show. He made some amazing colour and shape recommendations, which I think have really brought the illustration to life. If you like this check out my other 8-bit series, 8 Bit Dreams.

Ghosts N Goblins!

Alex Leighton (xander13.com) / acryclic on wood

I was super excited to be involved in the '8-Bit Champions' show, not only because it's in Paris but also because I chose one of my all time favourite games from my childhood! I didn't have a lot of time to work on it due to work being pretty crazy recently but I'm pretty happy with how this turned out...

Blue is Always Stronger

Here's my piece for the 8-Bit Champions show at La Flaq Gallery in Paris. It's titled "Blue is Always Stronger" as a reference to the 8-bit Legend of Zelda games where the blue version of the enemy always dealt out, and could withstand, more damage to Link.

Super Mario Bros. 8-Bit Champions in Paris

This is my tribute to the Super Mario Brothers for the 8 Bit Champion show in Paris, France at La Flaq Gallery. As always a special thanks to the Autumn Society and Chogrin for the invite.

The Descendant of Edrick.

Hey fellow gamers/drawers/nerdy-types: here's my submission for the 8-Bit Champs show!

The game I chose was Dragon Quest, or, if you grew up here, Warrior, which was literally my first foray into the realm of RPG's. It was also the first video game I got that wasn't Super Mario Bros., which came bundled with my NES console. And as a bonus, I got it for free with my subscription to Nintendo Power, a subscription which I almost wholeheartedly blame for my current, adult addiction to reading endlessly about videogames.
