Curated & produced by Chogrin & Thomas Olivri, we present to you the 8-BIT CHAMPIONS, an art show tribute to 8-bit games. 

From Super Mario Bros to Pac-man, 8-BIT CHAMPIONS offers a wide variety of all your old school arcade / home console systems with the elegance and variety of art that the Autumn Society has to offer and is known for.  Magnificent french artists like McBess (www.mcbess.com) and others will be joining us as well!

Hey fellow gamers/drawers/nerdy-types: here's my submission for the 8-Bit Champs show!

The game I chose was Dragon Quest, or, if you grew up here, Warrior, which was literally my first foray into the realm of RPG's. It was also the first video game I got that wasn't Super Mario Bros., which came bundled with my NES console. And as a bonus, I got it for free with my subscription to Nintendo Power, a subscription which I almost wholeheartedly blame for my current, adult addiction to reading endlessly about videogames.

New Metroid piece that will be featured in Geekart.net's show, "8-Bit Champions" in Paris, France.

backstory:

Metroid holds a bit of a special place for me. I distinctly remember sitting in my basement as a kid, and watching my older brother play it (majority of original NES games are memories of watching him play it before I actually got my hands on experiencing the game for myself). Right after he'd just beaten the last level, Metroid reveals in the ending that --(ZOMG SPOILER?!?) Samus is actually a female under all that androgynous space-suit looking armor. That really got me, mainly because all of the games I'd been playing up until that point always starred a male character (Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Mega Man etc.). And this female heroine was extremely awesome!

I tweaked Samus's armor some because it was looking a bit outdated (according to the original NES covers and manual booklets that came with the game).

Geek-Art.net & Artoyz Paris proudly present : the Blockbusterz Artshow !

That's it guys! The first "official" Geek-Art artshow ! In collaboration with the famous designer toys brand Artoyz, I am proud to present you Blockbusterz ! The show will last from the 7th of Jully till the 3rd of September, so if by chance you're in Paris during this time, please come and have a look ! During 2 months, the Artoyz store will host this artshow, presenting numerous artists' visions of their favourite summer blockbuster since 1975 ! The première will happen on the 7th Jully at Artoyz, 45 rue de l'Arbre Sec in Paris. Next week you'll get all the pics and the video of this event ! So please spread the word, because it's the first Geek-Art artshow, and believe me it's not the last !

Paris at Night

Did this piece for my mom as a birthday gift. Printed it out on some pre 'weathered' looking paper and burned the edges and sprinkled some water on it to give it that old timey travel poster feel. It actually looks much better in person then on a computer screen.

I took a picture of the framed finished piece. And check out that frame indeed. If anyone needs frames go checkout AC Moore, they are all about half price off. Anyway, I'm not a professional photo taker person but you get the idea...
