Jess's Process- 80's show

This is how I paint using Photoshop. Way, way different than the way i painted using Corel Painter. I used to flood fill a background and pull the light colors out like traditional painting, but now I have each element on its own layer, so I have to work one piece at a time and then blend it all together in the end. Notice how I have my references strewn all over the place.

Swine Flu ain't so bad

So far the swine flu has only killed a few people. Please take into consideration that the regular common strain of flu kills about 20,000 people a year. If I get it, I'll be sick for a few days and get better like hundreds of other people. Then again, I'm not a child or elderly or have an immunity problem.

Keep eating nutritional foods and keep up that immunity system!

Golden Age- Betty Boop

As soon as I saw Betty Boop on the list of the Golden Age Heroes show that Chogrin is putting together, I realized how much of a cult icon she is. Its common to put Betty Boop in the Marilyn Monroe grate pose, but I got the swell idea to stick her in Marilyn Monroe's Playboy pin-up instead.

I also wanted to do this partly for my grandmother, who's got the biggest Betty Boop memorabilia collection I've ever seen.

Not a lot of people know this, but Betty Boop was originally a dog.

This is my possible entry to the Pink show. This is what pink means to me.
I used to see pink as juvenile, associating the color with Barbies and Tea Parties. As a girl who grew up playing with toys meant for boys, I felt the color was restraining and sexist. It took a male point of view for me to truly understand the mystery of the Pink.

Mother Earth Ultrasound

Hello, friends and fellow illustrators! This is my first post, and I'd like to share with you my wacky painting for "Heart Earth." I'm not too sure if I'm done with it yet. I'm going to sit on it a little while until it hatches.

I can't think of anyone who "Hearts" more than a mother.
