Kandy Coated Kackles: 13 Mixtapes for Halloween!
So I know its a bit late for Halloween (my absent minded-ness forgot to post on here) so sorry about this but I want to share what I was doing for the last 13 days of October. Each day I posted one Halloween mix tape with cover art by me! So that means 13 mix tapes chock full of crazy, spooky, kooky, rockin, jammin' music for Halloween that go beyond Monster Mash and the Ghost Busters theme! I've been collecting this kind of music for about 7 years and I finally felt it was time to share my collection with everyone. Even though Halloween has passed, I hope these mixes get ya excited for it next year! And keep an eye out next October for volume 14. Download them here and check the track listings over at my blog! Enjoy and happy haunts!

It's Strange. It's Kooky. It's Even a bit Spooky.
October is already well upon us and as the Fall chill begins to take hold, all of the ghouls are coming out to play... including one peculiarly blue-haired, hell-raising fiend: Strange Kid! That's right, Strange Kids Club is proud to announce the special Halloween Edition of its Strange Kid Comix Magazine which features work by some of our very own fellow Autumn Society members.
Sporting a spooktacular cover by monster maker extraordinaire David Hartman this issue continues SK’s tradition of "combining immature, gross out humor with a crazy love for pop culture parody" with brand new comics by creators Aaron Klopp, Brian Fyffe, Christine Larsen, Craig Collins, Keith Allen, Glen Brogan, German Orozco, Sean K. Dove, Keith Allen, Neil Camera, Smo, Beans and Bueller and Zach Bellissimo.
It even includes two, extra special cut-out Monster Masks by David Hartman and Keith Allen for spine-tingling Halloweenie fun (not to mention a few other treats). To get a sneak peek or grab yours today, check out the official Strange Kid Shop.

Interview w/ Illustrator Tom Whalen
It's turning into quite a week for AS-related interviews it would seem. Next up is an AS alum and one of my personal favorite design-oriented illustrators: Tom Whalen!
Whalen's signature style has made him something on an internet phenom over the past few years, both in the design industry as well as the illustration community. It doesn't hurt that he also enjoys making 80s and 90s pop culture the subject of his works including Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man, Star Wars and more!

Spotlight on Autumn Society Member: Glen Brogan
Glen Brogan should be a name that many of you are quite familiar with; he's a self-admitted nostalgia junkie, an ongoing contributor to AS art events/shows, and my latest co-conspirator on the SK-exclusive web comic Strange Kid Shorties.
When he’s not illustrating icons of pop culture goodness, however, Glen is most likely occupied drawing scantily-clad ladies for the “funniest, sexiest magazine on earth,” Front Magazine and taking on as many freelance assignments he can handle. Luckily, I was able to lure the hardworking artist up to the SK clubhouse for a brief chat, one “strange kid” to another.
Check out the full interview here.

Kick Arse Cartoons: An Interview w/ Mukpuddy Animation Studio
I fell a bit behind in sharing some of our latest artist interviews from the clubhouse, so I'm back to make amends with this awesome feature of Mukpuddy-- a great group of guys! As members of the Autumn Society most of you are probably well aware of who they are and the mind-blowingly crazy cartoons they produced, but for the uninitiated I offer this peek inside the Mukpuddy studios:
How did the name Mukpuddy come about?
We lived with an undiscovered pygmy tribe for 6 years- they treated us like Gods. As we left, they placed their tiny hands on our shoulders and looked to the stars and cried “MUKPUDDY!” and it was so… man, imagine if that were true?! That would be quite a story to tell folks, better than “we took a bunch of words, muddled them up until we found a new word that sounded “cool” which is, in fact, the actual story. How many “Muks” are there? How do you decide who does what?
There are 3 of us. We came together in 1998 at our animation school in New Zealand and have stuck together ever since. As far as who does what we each have our strengths; Alex’s being character design/backgrounds/layout, Tim with technical things and music/editing and animation and Ryan with writing, voices and animation. But at the end of the day we all do everything so it’s quite hard to give one person credit for a particular aspect of a project, early on we decided that Mukpuddy would be the name that gets the credit.Click here to continue reading...

Today, I'm happy to reveal for the first time here the final cover artwork for the anthology (without the logo) by Brent Engstrom. Let's Get Strange

Trying some new techniques out and seeing if I can push my style a little more. I'm pretty pleased so far :) The top image is a spread for the folks at the Strange Kids Club, it'll be in their anthology book coming out soon, special thanks to Rondal Scott for getting me in there!
The second image is a dvd cover image I was asked to do for a project that my buddy Kelsey Allen did some work on.
I'll be back soon with some gallery pieces for some shows I've got coming up. Til next time, love luck and lollipops y'all.

Strange Kid Comics

That's right! I will be doing a comic strip for the Strange Kids Club. I was really excited to create a comic for the anthology but this should prove to be even cooler. This St. Patrick's Day strip is the first one, so SKC proprietor Rondal Scott and I will be getting a feel for the project as we go along.
You can see the official post here on the Strange Kids Club website, and you can pre-order the upcoming anthology here. I know it features the work of quite a few Autumn Society members so I'm really excited to check it out.
