Dummo and the Queen, an Art Opening.

Hello Autumn Society friends and favorites! I haven't posted here in a bit, but this special occasion, I think, merits a shout. The ever talented Alicia Neal (www.alicianeal.net) and I (the somewhat inane, ever snarky Justin Gray) are having a small opening for our 2 month long show this Friday in West Philadelphia, at the Greenline Cafe at 45th and Locust. We'd love to see some friendly faces out! Above is an example of a piece of one of her paintings, while below is a segment of one of my drawings.

The Descendant of Edrick.

Hey fellow gamers/drawers/nerdy-types: here's my submission for the 8-Bit Champs show!

The game I chose was Dragon Quest, or, if you grew up here, Warrior, which was literally my first foray into the realm of RPG's. It was also the first video game I got that wasn't Super Mario Bros., which came bundled with my NES console. And as a bonus, I got it for free with my subscription to Nintendo Power, a subscription which I almost wholeheartedly blame for my current, adult addiction to reading endlessly about videogames.

He (by H.P.Lovecraft, for Dead and Dreaming).

Good morning eldritch, creeping friends! Here's my newest labor of love, and addition to the wonderful collection of art being put together by the endlessly talented, unnameably productive Sam Heimer for his newest show Dead and Dreaming, a modern take on illustrating the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

My foray into the Lovecraftian was based on the uber-short story 'He', about an aged NY magician showing a lurky artist the future of things to come with spells stolen from the native peoples of New York. I chose to leave out the space head-dresses, which, sadly, is not a joke.

Hope you enjoy!

Hallowed Halloween Piece!

Hello All!
The Misfits are, and have always been, one of my favorite (creepy) bands. My love of their music becomes more prominent every Halloween season. So, for the Hallowed Halloween show, coming up, I decided to draw out all the elements of their most Halloween-centric of songs: Halloween. Total blast. Stoked to see all the other Halloween art!

Technology is Racing.

Hey dudes! So, here is my recently wrapped up contribution to the Triple G show. I always liked that there was a certain amount of scientific experimentation and innovation in each of the movies (I know, I know, it's Gremlins 2, but....) which ends up usually mis-firing, but eventually turns the tables on the baddies.

I really enjoy making piece specific repeat patterns, and so attached is the detail of the wallpaper-esque patterns in the background of each part...

Children of Watchmen Revisited...

As some of you know, the Philadelphia Cartoonist Society (PCS) got invited to do a second showing of their Watchmen gallery show at the Imax Theatre by the King of Prussia mall, to promote the movie before it premieres in March. Along with its original PCS members, Justin Gray, Kyle Hussa-Lietz, Pat Kinsella, and Peter Wonsowski were invited to contribute to the show's revisitation. The artwork you see above is Justin Gray's interpretation of one his favorite scenes in the book with the Comedian.
