Summoner Of Demons...

Haven't posted here in a while. So, I'll drop in with this image. This guy in the red robes is a dark summoner of demons, he wears a glowing crown of magic obsidian... I imagine he's conjuring up some nasty stuff for Halloween.

Hope you dig,

Gallery 1988 Melrose: "Please Post Bills" Show

"Captain Steve Zissou"
13x19" Pencil, white charcoal and pastel on paper / www.ericbraddock.com

Here's my submission for the "Please Post Bills" Show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles.

I originally was going to go with the Ghostbusters theme since my piece sold pretty fast at the show last time but I decided to try something different and get out of my comfort zone. The reason this is outside of my comfort zone is because I never saw The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou but know that the film has a huge cult following and people seem to really enjoy it. It was also a lot of fun drawing Bill Murray at an older age versus how young he was in Ghostbusters. I'm pretty happy with the result, I wanted to do a larger piece full of Bill Murray portraits arranged in a typical movie poster montage, but time ran short because of current projects.

Tom Waits

I just recently got into Tom Waits' stuff, thanks to Spotify, and didn't want to waste any time drawing him. The music is so eclectic, you can't help but totally dig it. Plus, his features are so drawable and fun.

I also really enjoyed cutting up these different pieces of sand paper for the musical notes.

Murray

It's been a while... here is my piece for the Please Post Bills show. I had a good time with this one but I'm curious to see how many people know it's from What About Bob.

Take it easy!

Please Post Bills

For Gallery 1988‘s upcoming exhibition “Please Post Bills”, dedicated to comedic legend Bill Murray, I chose to do a companion piece to my Ghostbuster’s piece from “The 3G Show”. My piece, Ugly Little Spud, depicts the scene when Murray’s character, Peter Venkman, comes face to face with his first Class 5 Free-Roaming Vapor, better known as Slimer.

Dead and Dreaming CLOSING RECEPTION THIS FRIDAY

Friends,

This friday marks the closing of Dead and Dreaming at Paradigm Gallery. If you missed the opening reception, mosey on down to the closing reception Friday night starting at 6:00 PM, 2020 South Street. I can easily say with pride this is one of the tightest shows I've ever seen and you really don't want to miss it... but if you do, the catalog was collected in a sexy book (see below) along with artist preliminary work.

The Fest X

Howdy!

I'm grateful to get to work with a lot of excellent bands on their records and merchandise for a living, but honored to have been asked to take part again in Florida's 3 day music FEST, now in its 10th year! The simultaneous gallery show showcases many artists, often those who work with bands and record labels, especially native to FL.  I myself got my big "break" working for a band in Gainesville in 1996 and continue to this very day.

I simply chose to do something fun and exclusive for the art show, especially to celebrate their tenth anniversary, somewhat as a way of giving back to the community and scene that has given so much to me

you can read more about the art show HERE. thanks for reading!

Wendigo

I've been working on my pieces for this years Artmares show and I really wanted to draw some sort of mythological creature that hasn't been done to death. I already drew the mothman once before, so that was pretty much out. I settled on the wendigo, a creature you'll supposedly turn into if you engage in acts of cannibalism. I drew a lot of inspiration from Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. comics' version of the creature, as well as some images I found online. Apparently there was a low budget horror movie made about a wendigo, and in that it had the giant head of a deer. I have no idea if that has any roots whatsoever in the actual wendigo myth, but I really liked the antlers so I used them.

The Artmares reception will be from 6 to 10 pm on Friday, Octrober 28 at the Kanawha Players Theater, 309 Beauregard St, Charleston, WV.

ANNOUNCEMENT: MTV (LATINOAMERICA) + AUTUMN SOCIETY MEXICO

More info coming soon!

I.G.O.R. MNKNK

This is the cover art for I.G.O.R. and their album MNKNK. Which by the way is AMAZING and you should get it right now. I mean it, it's always great to have the opportunity to produce fun, interesting art, but when it's backed up by incredible talent like these guys you feel like you just hit the jackpot. So thanks go to Mauricio Hernandez & Victor de la Garza for trusting me with this awesome task and for making such inspiring music.

The idea was basically space mission gone wrong, with the detail of  Manekineko, the japenese (chinese (?)) lucky cat as a symbol of the failed amulet.

Donald Duck

For whatever reason I've had the to idea to do a weird drawing of Donald Duck floating in my head for probably a year or two now. Something about the design of early animation characters is just so perfect; it makes you want to do your own take on them even though you know it will never be as good as the original.

Also, I recently got to spend a day at Walt Disney World and one of the gift shop items I found were these plush Mickey Mouse dolls that had really weird arbitrary coloring, and I loved them. I eventually found a Minnie, Goofy, and several color variations for Mickey, but no Donald. So I decided to carry the idea over to  my drawing and give Donald his own funky palette.

INTRODUCING: AUTUMN SOCIETY MEXICO

It is with great pleasure and honor to announce the beginning of the Autumn Society Mexico. For starters, The Autumn Society's "THE ICONOCLASTIC DEAD" show was a big success in Mexico City! So much so, that we have signed on for several more shows to take place in Mexico City between 2012 & 2013!

At this point I'd like to thank several people for making this dream a reality. German Orozco for his leadership, friendship, the marimba, and for taking this show above and beyond! Jorsh Pena, for providing some stellar special guests and artists. Jorge Gutierrez, Rhode Montijo, and Alberto Cerriteno for sharing their wonderful art and accompanying us on the show. Guru Galeria y tienda for all the love and goods that they provided for the show (papel picado, t-shirts, postcards, ads, tequila, and all the rest!). Another big thank-you to Rosario Ruiz, Manuel Lugh, Romero Chagoyan, Bere & Bere, POGO, and all of the Hula Hula gang! Gracias a todos who came out that night!

More coming soon...
