Leonardo.

Hello everyone! I recently became a member of the Autumn Society so I could participate in the Ninja Turtle tribute. Thanks for the invite, Jeffro and Chogrin! I hope to contribute to other events as well.

Back story:
In 1986 my older brother came home with the comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (issue 7). Prior to seeing the TMNT comic my only real exposure to comics was in Mad Magazine. This was a turning point for me. I had always liked drawing but I never seemed to know where it would go. The TMNT comic, as well as the artists at Mirage Studios, inspired me more than I could explain here. I have always preferred the raw grittiness of the original b+w comics hence the flavor of my illustration. I drew this sketch back in 2003 but put it to color in the past week. I hope everyone enjoys my piece. You all have been doing such awesome stuff!

Also, I have to mention that I had a one shot comic in TMNT #57 back in '96 that can be seen on my blog here if you're interested.

I will be at the Philadelphia show this Friday, June 3. Look for the short guy.

Shell Shock!

Hey everyone! Here's my piece for Shell Shock! It's a tribute to Master Splinter. Unfortunately I won't be able to get out to Philly to hang the work or make the show. Thought I'd post it here though. Some amazing work going into this one! Super bummed I can't make it.

If anyone is interested in prints, just send me a holler.

Hanging on to strains of green and blues...

Hello internet. My name is Andrew Wilson. I was recently invited to join the awesome artists here at the Autumn Society for their Goonies show. Thanks Autumn Society and Drake Brodahl for the introduction.

The last time I watched the movie I wept because I realized that I never got to be a Goonie or explore a cave with treasure when I was young enough to be excited by it. Now I'm old enough to make a Goonie, and if I ever get to hook up with Andy, well, now I'd go to prison. (Actually that doesn't make sense because she's aged with me, but you get the point.)

Enough words. Enjoy the artwork. If you wander over to my blog I have the process of this painting.

I hope I meet your unspoken expectations and ideals you used to play with.
(I also hope you get all the Cyndi Lauper references in this post.)

&Rew.

Ninja Rap

When the first two Turtles movies came out, I remember wanting to see them badly--especially the second one, because Vanilla Ice was in it. My brother had the To the Extreme tape, but he wouldn't share it, so seeing that movie was going to provide some much-desired access to the Ice Man.

UPDATE: Vanilla Ice himself has seen and approved this drawing.

TMNT: 4 & 5

Here's my 4th piece for my TMNT series, Donatello. I went with the blue for an electrical effect to subtly imply his affiliation with inventing stuff. I actually had this see-through computer panel in front of him with some tech programming type going on, but I was too torn with it and it didn't really look right so I scrapped it. If it wasn't so up close, I'd probably have kept it. Oh well ;)

I decided to go a bit different with Michelangelo, I based his design off of a painted turtle species. I liked the idea of him being somewhat different than his three brothers because his personality is a bit more outgoing and energetic. I think it fits him best. In a side story in Volume 2, it's revealed at an early age that Michelangelo was a talented artist. Without getting too literal with the painted turtle concept, I still enjoyed giving him a bit of a louder design than the other 3. Michelangelo was my first favorite when I was a kid.

Chairman Mouser for Shell Shock art show

Here is my piece for the Shell Shock art show, as you can see it's a Mouser, which I named "Chairman Mouser" (get it?). It was done with stencils and spray paint, and I made a pattern of rats for the background in metallic silver and gold paint, using one stencil tiled. I think it kind of looks like camouflage. The blue in the mouser is also metallic, but looks more electric blue.

Nom noms!

Here's my submission for the 'Goonies Art Show' @ Lunar Boy Gallery, it ended up being a bit of a rush job but I'm still pleased with it...

Machu Picchu / Black & White

here's the second in the series. I hope you all dig it.

My TMNT piece

Ninja Turtles!

Becky Dreistadt and Zach Marcus, aged 5 and 7 respectively, were the youngest artists to work on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. This is the only item, living or otherwise, that survived the great turtle animation studio fire of 1991.

New Shirts

I have two new shirt designs now up for sale! The Zelda inspired fairy shirt and the Mario inspired Bowser shirt. You can buy them here:

Men's Bowser shirt
Women's Bowser shirt

Men's fairy shirt
Women's fairy shirt

ROCKSTEADY sketch.

So..I'm working through the tough spots right now... I've been challenging myself with new projects in an overall attempt to push my Illustration skills just to keep up with all you other society members out there..

I must admit its pretty staggering to see the caliber of work that's being turned out for this show.. I only hope that my images are going to impress the other artists as much as they're work has impressed me.

For now though here is a discarded drawing from my mighty heap of TMNT themed artwork for this show... A little bit of ROCKSTEADY with some Skeksis type anatomy thrown in, Terrifying stuff. I spent a lot of time sketching prior to this show and its left me with some fun sketches that I'm not using for final work...but I wanted to bring them to you all so that you might scope them out...

Hope you dig...

Got us a Toitle!

Here's my piece...or should I say SLICE for the Shell Shock pie...uh show!

Rocksteady and Bebop were always my favorites, I thought it was a cool pairing, a rhino and a warthog as bumbling 80's thugs. Here they are seen with a brand new baby turtle. There faces say "No" but their hearts say otherwise....

Turtle Powah!

Here is my piece for the "Shell-Shock" A TMNT Art Show! It is called "Sewer Press Review" and is based on this playset!

I had the pleasure to get my older brothers hand-me-downs as a kid and the Turtle van was one of them. *Along with a ton of these figures* The colors were really fun to play with! And I looooove Master Splinter. :D

BE-BOP

April Fools

Consider this a bonus companion piece to the turtles drawing I posted yesterday. Even though that one took quite a while to finish, once I was done I still had the urge to simplify some of the characters even further. I figured I could throw all the drawings together somehow, and an April pinup turned out to be the answer.

THIS IS OUR TIME NOW! on THRILLIST!

Dudes!

Having only recently been invited to join The Autumn Society, i am unable to post this from the UK for it to arrive by the June 1st deadline.

However i post it here, for all to see.

Hope y'all dig, i look forward to contributing to future projects!

Magnar the Lavalchemist

New sample for the portfolio. I wanted to paint a World of Warcraft goblin so I came up with a character in mind.. the idea was a goblin who harvests lava for his alchemy.

SHELL-SHOCK BUZZ

The Autumn Society's Shell-Shock got some buzz on /Film today, as well as Mike Hiscox's epic Turtle piece for the show!

I ♣ O'Neil

"SHRED THE GNAR!"

Just because you're a misunderstood mutant snapping turtle, doesn't mean you can't shred and get giddy on the news lady like the rest of the gang.

Turtle Power!

Well, here it is! My piece for the Shell Shock TMNT tribute show next week. You'd better believe this was a lot of work! Please click on it for a larger view.

Of course I had to pay homage to the 1989 cartoon, as that was the version I and millions of others were obsessed with in our youth. I tried to include as many key characters and iconic visuals as I could, and threw in some stuff that I remember particularly fondly like the arcade game. (Speaking of which, the title of the piece is "Big Apple, 3 a.m." Some will get it!)

What can you say about the Ninja Turtles that does any justice to how much they took over our lives? It was THE show and had THE toys, everything else was secondary. I really wanted to dig out some of my old turtle drawings from when I was a kid to post along side this, just as a cool reminder of how far I've come with my drawing and yet how little my choice of subject matter has changed. I haven't had a chance to search them out though because they're rumored to be in a remote corner of my parent's attic. However, on my way home from picking up this print I came across a turtle in the middle of my street, so I stopped the car and moved him to save him from becoming road pizza. I suppose that's fitting enough.

TMNTA, If You Give A Turtle Pizza

Here's my (Jack Cusumano) submission to the Shell Shock show, entitled "TMNTA". It's a lineup of some of my favorite characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comic series from Archie Comics.
And this is Nico Colaleo's piece, "If You Give A Turtle Pizza"

KRANG

Going back to the tried-and-true cartoon villain portraits I used to do for Autumn Society shows. Keepin' it real.

Also, Facebook fan group!

TMNT: 3 of 5

Here are my first three pieces of my series. Hope you guys dig em so far.

3 minutes late

My contribution to the Autumn Society's Shell Shock TMNT Show. Recently invited...my other commitments along with the short turn-around time means I won't be able to ship prints out in time for the show. Down but not out, I wanted to at least contribute something to the blog. Ninja Turtles has always been one of my all time favorite properties. I couldn't pass up being a part of this show. I only wish I had more time to do something extravagant. This is my first invite to a Autumn Society show, big thanks to Chogrin and cheers to many more shows in the future!
