Zilla Screen Print - Bryan Brinkman

Hey Autumn Societiers,

I recently started learning to screen print. After screen printing the drawing using a Yudu machine, I colored it using a sharpie marker. The Marker ended up causing the ink to bleed, so I was also to get some shading with it. You can get one at my new online shop Sum of the Parts, which also has my prints from past Autumn Society shows like The 3B Show and Shell Shock - TMNT. Hope you guys dig it.

I just got done printing 100 of these bad boys, and sent them off to California, where the band The Motel Life (not to be confused with The Movie Life), will be playing a short 2 week tour. I do not have extra's so you gotta talk to the band if you want to get one of these posters for probably $5.

When the band contacted me back in July, they literally said, interpret the quote "(So Sorry) We're not what you're looking for" in your illustration. I took a week to think about it since the deadline was far enough away, and sent off sketchs. Got the final word a week later and did the finished image in a day.

The image they chose, was one that represents a 90's indie girl displeased with what she saw through her camera lens. Sketchs are below.

I just finished updating my website. This image is a favorite of mine out of the new pieces created. It's pretty self explanatory. This is one of the images I am screen printing into an accordian fold book.

New Kids on the Block show

My peers in the senior class in the illustration department at UARTS are putting together a group show here in Philadelphia, called The New Kids on the block show. Each artist is showing a minimum of four pieces.

Below is a preview of two of the four works I will be having in the show.

Into It. Over It.

Heres another cool poster I did for No Sleep records. Its a promo poster for the up and coming release of "(52 Songs in) 52 Weeks" by the indie/emo band Into it. Over it.

I was asked by Chris the A.D. to illustrate and design a poster that was kinda like the cover of the album but to do it in my own way. The artwork was to have two versions. One version that is a web promo that is full color and another that is white on black that I am going to screen print later this week for a package deal.

I am not a fan of spring. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the sun, and breeze going across my face as I bike around Philadelphia. The weather is quite premium. What gets me bitter this time of the year, is seeing what I don't have. It's human nature to feel envious of other people who find their other half, but it is something I reflect on this time of the year. This is a metaphorical illustration about that bitter feeling.


There is no use in worrying, when there is nothing to worry about.

This is a illustration I made for my mom. She worries about me, ALOT. So I made her this as a simple calm down during these vital times, and economic hardships most of us are facing.

No Sleep Means Family Silk Screens

I just got done signing 100 of these screen prints and man is my arm tired. I have to ship these prints out in the next few days, so that they will be available to purchase at the No Sleep Records Store in the next week or two.

I talked to Chris at No Sleep, and he said they will be sold for somewhere between $15 and $25 a print with free shipping.

"Heart Earth" Show Entry

Here is my show entry for the Heart Earth show, dealing around environmental issues. My piece is optimistic, which deals with the change that is coming about. We all can do our part by doing something as small as changing a light bulb or switch to a renewable resource, which will eventually change the light on the issue at hand.

On a side note, I was at the Joker show tonight. I saw a lot of old familiar faces, and a few new ones. It was awesome. The pieces look a lot better in person, and really impressed me. It was just a overall cool show.

Much props to Joe for all his hard work setting up these shows and promoting the society.

Hey everyone its been a little while since my last post... so its time for a new one. This is just something I did for fun, I may use it as a promotional mailing and also probably for a show I have coming up in april. But honestly there isnt too much behind it, who wouldnt want to do a samurai on a bike? so anyway here you go, and people seemed to like my process stuff i posted last time so I thought I would also post the mylar drawings I did (before putting them together in photoshop) Have a good one!

Process: Girard article

Hey everbody I havn't posted any work on here in a while and though I'd put up my most recent stuff. the black and white one was a quickie for the Miami New Times, not much to it but i thought it was a fun one, and the other one I finished this morning for Grid Magazine which is out of Philly by the way, and that is the Girard El stop. People were posting some process stuff a bit ago and I though you guys might wanna see how I do my stuff it's a bit different.

I do the ink drawings on frosted mylar the same way you would for a screen print seperating the colors. For more complicated images with people in them and such I usually do 3 or 4 layers instead of just the 2 but you get the idea. So i just take pictures of the individual mylars and then the rest is just photoshoping with a background texture and layer effects. Have a good one everybody!

To the streets...

Philadelphia's Guerilla art duo "Low + Cordel", created a collaborative 3 color silk screen print, to protest and bring awareness to the Orphan Works Issue to unaware artist and non-artist.

They posted these throughout Center City Philadelphia. (but they weren't pasted that well.)

They asked me to post these photos to the blog.

I <3 Fliers

So on my blogger I posted that I was going to print this flier out, and it being one of the first fliers I printed after the long summer of just really re-investigating the way I draw, and how I approach my medium.

I printed this flier in Gold, Silver and black ink, hence the huge glare. I printed 26 of them because I was fearful of not selling well at this venue where I usually only sell about 2 or 3. I usually break even when I do fliers up in doylestown at Siren Records.

I posted it up here because it's the first gig poster I printed that I sold out of at the show. I was pretty shocked to of sold as many as I did but I am not complaining none the less either. Below is a digital version for your own personal view.

First post on the new Autumn Society blog

So I want to first start off by thanking Joe for re-inviting me to the blog, to share some of the works that I am proud of or some in progress' stuff to share for opinion along the way.



Got an e-mail from Mike asking me what fliers I wanted to make this summer from the current line up on the Staggered works page, and I chose this show. Thought I would try a sequential page with this flier, and I also took on a looser, flatter approach that I usually do with my other work.
