PaperMonster Ate That Little Boy
The Vincent Michael Gallery is opening it's doors for the first time this Friday and it will be well worth the wait. The truly inspired owners have put much of their blood, sweat and tears into the establishment and the party is about to begin. Come check out the space, the artwork and support the arts in Philadelphia.
Opening reception runs from 6pm-9pm and is located in The Piazza, Northern Liberties. Visit Vincent Michael Gallery for more information.
Stormtrooper and MUSCLE for 80's Toys Show
Here are my 2 pieces for the Autumn Society 80's Toys Art Show.
This painting is based off of the original crappily sculpted Stormtrooper action figure from the Star Wars line. I know the toy initially came out in 1977, but they re-packaged these through the 80's. Ever since I was 3, I was hooked on Star Wars, and after getting the Super Shogun Stormtooper recently, the old toys have been dancing though my head. It's a 2 color stencil, with the background made up of various colors of the black layer.
This second piece was kind of last minute. I had this weird long canvas, and had the idea to do a toy based off M.U.S.C.L.E., which were these crazy pink Japanese wrestling characters. This guy is Terry Bull, who if I recall was the leader of the bad guys. This was also done with spray paint and stencils. The art show will go from July 2- Aug 4 @ Brave New Worlds in Philly. More info can be found on Facebook.

MONSTER!!!
In honor of the 80's theme show, I present my piece titled "F*ck it, we got a better world under the bed".
Since I was never without my crayola markers in the 80s, I made this with those very same markers, sprung from a box in my folks basement.
Peep more of my crap here.

More than meets the eye...
Robots in disguise...
These are my pieces for the upcoming Autumn Society 80's toy themed show at Brave New Worlds Comics in Philly. The 80's was a glorious decade for toys, It was a time when parents would get into fist fights at 6 in the morning, freezing outside a Kiddie City a week before Christmas so they could grab a preemie Cabbage Patch Kid or a Soundwave Transformer for their little girl or boy, and Santa would get all the credit. I loved my Star Wars and GI Joe toys, but Transformers was awesome & let's face it, Gobots sucked.

FinnMunny for Munny Munth
In honor of Munny Munth over at KidRobot, I decided to do a custom on their Trikky Mini-Munny platform. The design is based on Finn, the main character from Adventure Time. I sculpted the backpack out of a new sculpting compound called Zubber, which didn't work as good as I would have hoped. Still it was a fun little piece, and adds to my 2 other Adventure Time tributes HERE and HERE.
Vote for my Munny custom here! I'm not gonna win, but it literally takes 2 seconds to click "Like."

Look Ma! No Feet!
Been awhile since I last posted. Anyways, heres my 80's Toy show submission.
I chose to use a rather obscure toy from the era, to give myself a challenge, and to re-use a style of drawing I've been itching to try again since a failed (not really) Sophomore year assignment. The result being this Ed Roth styled Roller Racer.
Opening Photos: Jinxed Custom Qee Show
This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking part in my first ever custom toy show at Jinxed Gallery. The amount of creativity and imagination in these customs was fantastic and the entire collection looked great. You can check out some images from the show and catch more images of the custom Qees at: outofprintmag.com/2010/06/news/art/jinxed-custom-qee-show-opening

Sucks To Be You Man!
I really love this movie. I find it gets funnier with age. I won't lie and say I made this piece just for the heck of it. The reason I drew this scene is because Jim Breuer has said that during the making of this movie this was the only scene in which he was actually high for filming. I can never look at this scene in the same way again. Plus it's friggin' hilarious!

This was no boating accident...
This is the first of two pieces I did for this years Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988. I was so stoked to do a Jaws print, it's one of my favorite movies. It's one of those movies that if I see it on TV i must watch, even though i've seen a ton of times and I could just pop in the DVD, but there's definitely something cool about catching it on TV. Plus, this year is the 35th anniversary of the film and it being summer right before the 4th of July really puts me in the mood for Jaws.
This will be available through the gallery starting July 9th, it's a 11" x 17" limited edition of 55 signed and numbered 5 color screenprint done by the fine folks at D&L Screenprinting who in my opinion are the absolute best in the business for screenprinting. I will post the other piece closer to the show, it quite scrumpdiddleumptious (hint, hint.)...

Tiki Punk
FROM THE AWKWARD VAULTS!
Pulp Fiction: Collect the Whole Set
My contribution to the Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988. I was crazy excited to be asked to do a piece for the show. I tried to figure out a way to cram as many things into one piece for a movie that has a ton of great scenes & characters. Hope it worked... I've started to see a couple of people's pieces showing up online and they are amazing! Woo!
Custom Qee
This is my custom Qee for the Jinxed Toy 2R Show this weekend.
NoseGo: Jinxed Custom Qee Show - 6/26/2010 from Gabrielle Bonghi on Vimeo.
Nose GoFoiled at EVERY CORNER!
This cover was a nightmare process. It went through a prolonged sketching process, wrought with ridiculously changes to literal meaning. At the last minute a cover ad was tacked onto the thing, so there was all that ridiculous re-Frankensteining. The subject revolved on people in lockup who were forced to stay in for prolonged periods of time for not having the funds to pay their bail. The tick marks on the wrist (as you can see below) , which were meant to show off the time spent inside, were basically omitted. AND NOW, I have seen that the goddamn thing has printed awfully. Thats actually not too much a surprise, we have an awful printer. You get what you pay for.
I was actually partial to this more severe b/w version. The tick marks showed off in very tight bright red. Maybe its just my red fetish.
More of me crap here.

Tequila
Here is my piece for this year's Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988 LA. As you can tell, I chose Pee-Wee's Big Adventure as my subject matter. This thing was a beast that I've been working on in chunks for several months. Right now there are plans for an edition of 50 prints to be ready by the shows opening on July 9.
